Clara fuhrmanClara Fuhrman, D.M.A., is the Executive Director of the Corvallis Youth Symphony Association. Before joining CYSA, she was the Senior Coordinator of Major Gifts for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She graduated with her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance from the University of Oregon, where she taught students of all ages within UO’s Community Music Institute, and with a professional certificate in finance and nonprofit management from the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University. Dr. Fuhrman also holds a Master of Music degree in violin performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Puget Sound, where she graduated with honors in the performance major and received the university’s prestigious Roderick MacArthur Award for her undergraduate thesis.
Dr. Fuhrman performs regularly as a violinist with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra in Eugene, OR, and was a featured presenter at the 2022 American String Teachers’ Association (ASTA) National Conference in Atlanta, GA. She has attended the Eastern Music Festival on fellowship, the Aspen Music Festival, the Brevard Music Festival, and the Montecito International Music Festival, where she performed as soloist with the Montecito Festival Orchestra in Los Angeles, CA. Her writing about violin playing and teaching is frequently featured on Violinist.com. |
