Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Willamette Valley Junior Honor Symphony’s 2021-22 Season! To audition for JHS, students must be members of their school/district instrumental music program and in grades 6-10.
All auditions will be through Video Submission only.Students must register below in order to submit an audition. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation receipt with specific instructions for submitting your audition video. We are currently accepting video auditions from wind/brass and percussion students. Auditions are due on January 31st.
JHS meets and rehearses in-person at Crescent Valley High School. JHS rehearsals are Tuesday evenings 6:30-8pm, starting on February 15th. The Corvallis Youth Symphony Association has put in place measures in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 to rehearse and perform in person as safely as possible this year.
All JHS students are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or bring a negative COVID-19 test from within 72 hours to every rehearsal.
*Please review the full COVID-19 Policies HERE before registering to audition.*
JHS Membership Requirements
Membership in JHS requires membership in the student’s school or district band or orchestra class, as long as one is available.
Each member must agree to abide by the Attendance Policy: A high-quality ensemble requires a commitment of faithful attendance and industrious concentration at each rehearsal. Illness is excused;homework is not. Students who might have school conflicts (sports or school activities) need to carefully study their calendars to determine the seriousness of conflicts. If your conflict requires you to miss a concert, dress rehearsal, or several rehearsals, you should not participate in JHS this season or for that session.
Parents/guardians of JHS members are expected to contribute volunteer time toward JHS throughout the year.
Tuition for JHS is $500 due at the first rehearsal. This payment covers the entire season. Need-based scholarships are available upon application (email cysassoc@peak.org for an application). Please participate for the full season if you are able to!
Students may participate for the Fall (October-December) or Spring (January-April) only, if desired. Tuition for the Fall only is $200. Tuition for the Spring only is $300 (it is a longer session). Auditions for the Spring only will occur in mid-December. We encourage you to participate for the full year (October-April)!
All JHS participants must sign a COVID-19 Waiver/Release of Liability and agree to all COVID-19 policies in order to participate this season.
