Annissa Olsen

Hello! I’m so pleased to be returning for another year of fantastic music-making with CYSA. This is my third year serving as CYSA Orchestra Manager and Lead Teacher for the Elementary Strings program.

A little about me: I was raised in a family of musicians and music teachers, and grew up studying violin, viola, and piano in Tempe, Arizona–later receiving degrees in Viola Performance and French from Arizona State University. Weary of the desert sun, I relocated to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in 2012, where I received master’s degrees in Viola Performance/Pedagogy and Music Education from the University of Oregon. I’m truly passionate about bringing string music education to students of all ages, with a focus on early childhood education. For that reason, I’m thrilled to serve as Lead Teacher in CYSA’s Elementary Strings program, as well as CYSA Orchestra Manager. Previously, I was Director of the Douglas County Youth Orchestras from 2014-2017, and faculty of the UO Community Music Institute and the Northwest Suzuki Institute in Eugene. I perform regularly with local orchestras and string quartets, including the Eugene Symphony Orchestra. Check out for more info. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about CYSA or Elementary Strings (annissaolsen AT gmail DOT com).
